15 000 T/A MIBK Project Put on Stream in Jilin

The 15 000 t/a methyl isobutyl ketone (MIBK) was completed in Jilin Chemical Group Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd. and put on stream recently, which is the largest production line in China now, adopting the independent intellectual property right technology owned by CNPC Jilin Chemical Group.     The total current capacity of MIBK in China is approximately 2 500 t/a, but most of the units have features of small production scale, unripe process, high production cost and more energy consumption in general. The domestic demand of MIBK is increasing rapidly in recent years, the import quantity of MIBK in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 was 17 000 tons, 21 000 tons, 32 100 tons, 36 900 tons, separately.      This project has manufactured 1 000 tons top grade MIBK in August. Jilin Chemical Group Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. is preparing for construction the second 15 000 t/a MIBK facility and completion it in August 2006.
