500 000 T/A Catalytic Cracking Project Starts Construction

The ceremony for starting the construction of a 500 000 t/a catalytic cracking project was held in Heilongjiang Petrochemical Company Ltd. on Aug. 19.      The first phase of the project has a total investment of RMB653.2 million and will be completed and put on stream in August 2006.      The project can produce 13 product varieties including refined propylene and C4 liquefied gases containing isobutene and n-butene. It can therefore provide adequate raw materials to methyl ethyl ketone, nonyl phenol and air separation units to develop C3/C4-based fine chemical products with high added value.     After the completion of the first phase, it can produce 83 900 tons of liquefied gas, 107 000 tons of propylene, 105 000 tons of gasoline, 64 600 tons of light diesel, 7 600 tons of oil slurry and 47 600 tons of MTBE a year.
