Light Calcium Carbonate Project Starts Production in Guilin

The first phase of the 300 000 t/a light calcium carbonate project, the largest in China, started production in Guangxi Guilin Jinshan Chemical Plant on June 30.    The project has a total investment of RMB150 million and will be executed in two phases. The sales revenue is expected to reach RMB500 million a year. There are 6 major product varieties including industrial-grade precipitation calcium carbonate, papermaking-grade calcium carbonate, food-grade calcium carbonate, wet-process active calcium carbonate, superfine calcium carbonate and nanometer calcium carbonate.     The second phase of the project will be completed within two years. New products will be developed and high quality special varieties will be produced. The target is to expand the total capacity of calcium carbonate series products in the company to 400 000 t/a.
