Coal Chemical Project Starts Construction in Yunnan

A ceremony for starting the construction of the 2.0 million t/a coking and 300 000 t/a coal tar processing project in Yunnan Coal Chemical (Qujing) Base has recently been held. The project is jointly funded by Yunnan Provincial Government and Yunnan Petroleum & Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. It includes a 4.0 million t/a coal dressing unit, a 2.0 million t/a coking unit, a 300 000 t/a coal tar processing unit and a 200 000 t/a methanol unit. The project has a total investment of RMB2.2 billion. The first coking furnace will start operation at the end of 2006 and overall production will start in 2007. After the completion of the project, the sales revenue can reach RMB2.8 billion and the profit can reach RMB500 million a year.
