Second-Phase Project in WEPEC Launched

The project of hydrocracking, hydrogen preparation and diesel hydrogenation has recently been launched in West Pacific Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (WEPEC) located in Dalian, Liaoning province.    4 units including a 1.5 million t/a hydrocracking unit, a 2.0 million t/a diesel hydrogenation unit, a 72 000 m3/h hydrogen preparation unit and a 80 000 t/a sulfur recovery unit, as well as their matching utilities, will be constructed in the second-phase. The project has a total investment of RMB2.425 billion and will be completed in the first half of 2007. The completion of the project will greatly help improve product structure, product quality, enhance competitiveness in the company.      The first-phase for the renovation and expansion of the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit, the first-phase reforming unit, the kerosene and diesel hydrogenation unit and the distillate oil hydrogenation unit was completed in spring of 2004. It had a total investment of RMB359 million. After the completion of the first-phase, the processing capacity of the atmospheric and vacuum distillation unit increased from 8.0 million t/a to 10.0 million t/a and the processing capacity of the kerosene and diesel hydrogenation unit and the distillate hydrogenation unit increased from 1.0 million t/a to 1.3 million t/a respectively.
