Furfuryl Alcohol Project Put on Stream

On May 10, the 30 000 t/a furfuryl alcohol production line was formally put on stream in Jiaozuo, Henan province, which is jointly completed by Henan Huilong Chemicals Company Ltd. and Henan Yuantai Chemical & Power Company Ltd. with an investment of RMB20 million funded by Henan Huilong.    The project adopts the global advanced liquid-phase hydrogenation process developed by CAS Institute of Coal Chemistry located in Shanxi, using hydrogen and steam as raw materials, the hydrogen coming from tail gas of fertilizer production in Yuantai Chemical & Power Company, and the steam from Thermal Power Plant -- subsidiary of Yuantai. The process has the advantages of reclaiming by-products and reducing pollutions with the reclaim capacity of 4.32 million m3/a hydrogen and 43 200 t/a steam respectively. This is double win for two manufactures.     Up till now the first production line of the project was completed and put on stream, the other two units will be launched later. After the wholly completion, the sales revenue will be RMB150 million a year, the profit will reach RMB10 million a year. Henan province becomes the largest domestic furfuryl alcohol production base.
