 Fujian LNG Project Starts Construction

Fujian liquefied natural gas (LNG) project started construction in Fujian Putian Xiuyu Port on April 15. This major project with Chinese-foreign cooperation has a total investment of around RMB24 billion and will be completed at the end of 2007.    The 37-hectare LNG receiving station is located in Putian Xiuyu Port to the north of the Meizhou Bay. The first phase has a capacity of 2.6 million t/a. The first-phase of transmission line has a total length of 369 km. The trunk line starts from Putian Xiuyu Port and connects Fuzhou, Putian, Quanzhou, Xiamen and Zhangzhou. (CCR2005, No. 12)    The second-phase receiving station will have a design capacity of 5.0 million t/a. It will be put on stream in 2012.
