Second Phase Chlor-Alkali Project Starts Production

The second phase chlor-alkali project and the second phase PVC project have recently started production in Hubei Yihua Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (HYCIC).     The second phase chlor-alkali project is funded by the company itself without raising funds from outside sources. The second phase PVC project is funded by the company’s subsidiary Yichang Yihua Pacific Thermal Power Co., Ltd. The construction of the two projects was completed at the end of February 2005. Wet commissioning is already conducted and normal operation has started.     When the 60 000 t/a capacity of caustic soda and the 60 000 t/a capacity of PVC in the first phase completed at the end of February 2004 are added, the company has acquired a 120 000 t/a capacity of caustic soda and 120 000 t/a capacity of PVC today.      HYCIC that took the chemical fertilizer production as main operation has conducted readjustments to its products distribution. Three major sectors including chemical fertilizer production, polyol (mainly pentaerythritol) production and chlor-alkali production have been basically formed. The proportion of the sales revenue from chemical fertilizers in the sales revenue of main operations is down and the production of the sales revenue from organic chemical products is up. The PVC project has become a focus in the drastic performance growth (CCR2004, No. 6).
