Water Project Launched in Dayawan Petrochemical Zone

The sewage treatment plant and the water division project, both important integrated utility facilities in Guangdong Dayawan Petrochemical Zone, were launched in March. The water project will provide a guarantee for the 800 000 t/a ethylene unit that is a key project in the zone and also for mid-stream and downstream petrochemical projects.      The construction of the comprehensive sewage treatment plant takes the environmental protection standard in CNOOC Shell petrochemical projects as reference and the design uses the world-leading membrane biological reaction technology. The tender winner is Singapore United Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. The sewage treatment plant has a design capacity of 80 000 m3/d and will be executed in three phases. The first phase has a capacity of 25 000 m3/d. Debugging will be completed and production will be started in March 2006. Sewage from all enterprises except CNOOC Shell Nanhai petrochemical project will be treated in the plant. Besides, the Dayawan water division project, an important project matched to CNOOC Shell petrochemical project, has also been launched. The project has a total investment of RMB457million.
