30 000 T/A Butadiene Extraction Project Starts ConstructionThe 30 000 t/a butadiene extraction project in Blue Star Tianjin Petrochemical Co., Ltd. has recently started construction. It is another major project in the company after the 80 000 t/a air separation project and the 35 ton coal-fired boiler project.     The project uses the technology from BASF and the software design of the process package is undertaken by ABB-Lummus of the United States.      Principal facilities of the project occupy an area of 1 711 m2. There are 10 production towers such as main washing tower, post washing tower and fractionation tower. Auxiliary production equipment includes pumps, cooling towers, storage tanks and a large compressor. After the completion of the project, a sales revenue of RMB415 million and a profit of RMB34.5 million can be accomplished a year. The piling of 5 spherical tanks is already completed and the foundation construction is in full swing. It is expected that the project will be completed at the end of 2005 and start production in March 2006.
