First Gas Fields in the Source Region of the West-East Gas Transmission Project Start Production  

Following the completion of Yaha gas field and Kela 2 gas field, Jilake condensate gas field that is another gas field in Tarim gas region that participates in west-east gas transmission started production on April 9. Jilake gas field is located in Xinjiang Luntai County. It was started construction in June 2004 and the design capacity is 650 million m3/a.      The proven gas reserves in Jilake gas field amount to 13.68 billion m3 and the proven condensate oil reserves amount to around 2.864 million tons. The maximum design gas supply capacity is 2.1 million m3/d and there can be a stable supply for 7 years. Tarim Oilfield Co., Ltd. successfully put high-quality natural gas from Yaha gas field and Kela 2 gas field into the west-east gas transmission pipeline respectively in September and December 2004. Yaha gas field is the largest self-contained condensate gas field in China using the high-pressure circulating gas injection process. Kela 2 gas field is the largest self-contained gas field in China with extremely high output and abundance. The largest natural gas treatment plant in Asia has also been constructed in Kela area.     By the end of April this year the gas supply capacity in Tarim gas region will reach 19.0 million m3 and the capacity of natural gas will be more than 8.5 billion m3. The gas supply capacity will reach 12.0 billion m3 at the end of this year. By April 9 Tarim Oilfield already put 1.54 billion m3 of natural gas into the west-east gas transmission pipeline according to market demand.    The Tarim Basin is the biggest oil/gas sedimentary basin in China and has rich natural gas resources. The latest resources evaluation shows that the equivalent amount of provable oil/gas reserves in the Tarim Basin is 12.3 billion tons. Of the total, the amount of natural gas is 8 000 billion m3, holding the first place in China. By the end of 2004, the proven gas reserves in Tarim Oilfield amounted to 664.0 billion m3 and the tertiary gas reserves reached 1 400 billion m3. Tarim gas region has a gas supply capacity of 12.0 billion m3/a with a stable supply for 30 years (CCR2004, No. 24).
