Hualian Sunshine 600 000 T/A PTA Put on Stream    

On April 3 the 600 000 t/a PTA (purified terephthalic acid) project of Hualian Sunshine Petrochemical Company Ltd. completed construction and produced qualified PTA products in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province. Most of the textile producers in the province, which entirely relied on purchasing PTA as feedstock from other regions or import from abroad, can buy PTA from Hualian by saving a lot of freights.     The project adopts the introduced Eastman process, which is the advanced technology in the world. The PTA products are able to meet the requests of the polyester manufacturers. Hualian Sunshine has signed contracts of 300 000 tons PTA, accounting for 70% of total output 450 000 tons this year. Facing to a 3 million t/a consumption market in the near region, the project can even produce 750 000 tons in 2005.    It is reported that the second phase of Hualian Sunshine PTA project will has two production lines with capacity of 1.2 million t/a PTA. Just now the equipments purchasing from abroad have been finished 90%, and the apparatus buying from domestic factories and matched public engineering have been started up (CCR 2004 No.28).
