 PVC Expansion Project Launched in Zhuzhou   

The ceremony for launching the 200 000 t/a PVC expansion project was held in Zhuzhou Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd., Hunan Province on March 27.     It was proposed last year that on the basis of the existing 100 000 t/a capacity, an investment of RMB500 million will be made to construct another 200 000 t/a PVC project and matched facilities. After the completion of the project, the PVC capacity in the company will reach 300 000 t/a and the sales revenue will be increased by RMB2.0 billion a year. The domestic advanced process of stripping and compression condensation will be used. A 50 000 t/a metal-diaphragm caustic soda unit and a 60 000 t/a ion-membrane caustic soda unit will be put up to meet the need in the 200 000 t/a PVC project. An investment of RMB190 million will also be made to construct pollution control facilities. The consumption of production water can be reduced by 4.0 million m3 and the consumption of sulfuric acid can be reduced by 11 000 tons a year. The annual reduction of wastes will be 175 000 tons of spent sulfuric acid, 45 000 tons of waste alkali liquid, 25 000 tons of suspension matters, 2 944 tons of COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and 4.0 million tons of waste water. The calcium carbide slurry dehydration and clean solution recovery project with an investment of RMB10.21 million can reduce the discharge of calcium carbide residue by 1.8 million tons, recover 1.62 million tons of clean solution and generate an economic return of RMB3.5 million.
