Power generated by wind and PV systems will take up around 11% of total electricity consumption in 2021, and the number will grow continually to ensure that non-fossil energies will account for 20% of primary energy consumption in 2025, as detailed in Notice on Development and Construction of Wind and PV Power Projects in 2021 the National Energy Administration (NEA) issued on May 20.

This year household PV power projects will continue to enjoy subsidies, with a budget of RMB500 million. In addition, construction of approved projects will speed up. More specifically, some projects – including wind power projects approved before the end of 2020 and within approval validity period, low-price wind power PV projects in 2019 and 2020, and bidding PV projects – will be directly included in the scope of provincial (autonomous regions’ and municipal) supportive grid connection projects. For projects beyond the period of approval validity, provincial energy authorities will take corresponding measures, and projects without conditions for construction will terminate.
