The Circulen portfolio offers a lower carbon footprint through the use of renewable-based content as compared to feedstock from fossil-based sources and supports a circular economy.

As the largest polyolefin market in the world, China represents a significant strategic region for LyondellBasell.

“We are committed to enhancing our localization to a new level via Joint Venture collaborations with our trusted local partners, which includes the formation of the Bora LyondellBasell Joint Venture,” said Limin Fu, Vice President of LyondellBasell Joint Venture Management & Polyolefins in China. “This Joint Venture establishes a world-class manufacturing base which offers domestic supply of high-quality polyolefin products. And, worldwide, we have also expanded our production and supply network in Korea, Thailand and the United States to help meet the rising demand in China.”

“China is a vital market with tremendous growth potential for our Advanced Polymer Solutions. Demand from the electric vehicle industry, upgrading consumers and continued investments in infrastructure all create opportunity for our segment,” remarked by Joanne Swiggett, Vice President of LyondellBasell Advanced Polymer Solutions (APS) of APAC and AFMEI. “We are actively aligning our world-leading technologies with local needs and customer preferences through domestic technical development and production.”

The Circulen Polymers Solutions series debuted worldwide

LyondellBasell is launching its next strategic step to deliver its commitment to sustainable development with the announcement of its suite of products under the brand name Circulen. Circulen enables brand owners to deliver greater sustainability in consumer products and entails different sub-brands such as CirculenRecover, CirculenRevive and CirculenRenew, of which the recycling and high-value reuse of plastics are secured by mechanical recycling, advanced (molecular) recycling and making plastics from renewable-based feedstocks.

The LyondellBasell Circulen portfolio is currently available in Europe and will be introduced as soon as possible in China and North America. CirculenRecover products were used in the Samsonite’s latest Magnum Eco suitcase range which will be unveiled at Chinaplas.

Advancing lower carbon emissions and new energy vehicle (NEV)

The comprehensive polymer material portfolio from LyondellBasell helps automotive and auto parts manufacturers meet design challenges with high-performance materials that are lighter and more energy-efficient. Such technologies include:

Hostacom auto interior materials series provides advantages in aesthetics, haptics, and lower odor and emission for a variety of auto interior applications.

Hifax automotive exteriors materials series ensures weight reduction at good performance, excellent mechanical performance and good impact resistance and stiffness, highly stable dimension and low Coefficient of Linear Thermal Expansion (CLTE), outstanding ultraviolet, weathering and aging.

Polyflam Flame Retardant materials series offers New Energy Vehicle (NEV) parts manufacturers solutions for excellent fire safety, higher heat and chemical resistance, lower toxicity, better copper stability and electrical resistivity, as well as choices of colorful design and halogen free.

Lupolen 4261 AG features high impact resistance materials with an outstanding Environmental Stress Cracking Resistance (ESCR) and good chemical resistance in combination with an excellent low temperature impact resistance, suitable for typical customer applications.

Advancing design and environmental protection of industrial and consumer packaging

From multi- to mono-materials, innovative solutions from LyondellBasell enable packaging, electronics and home appliances to achieve a more appealing appearance and higher quality product. LyondellBasell’s Polybatch offers a wide variety of color options and enhanced film properties and its Hostalen ACP 5331 H HDPE resins offer exceptional food and non-food caps and closures and tube shoulders. LyondellBasell also has Mold-in-Color products with versatile, customized color which are paint free with an Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) listing and are International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) compliant, Restriction of Hazardous Substance (Reach-RoHS) declaration. Additionally, LyondellBasell offers post-consumer-recycled (PCR) Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) compounds and the Low Creep polypropylene (PP) compounds series which offers excellent durability, weight reduction, cost savings and dimensional stability.

Accelerating the development of green buildings and eco-cities

Accelerating buildings’ energy conservation and emissions reduction and promoting green cities have become the common consensus of the building industry. LyondellBasell helps customers tackle environmental challenges and tap valuable development opportunities with its exclusive Cattaloy technology, which helps advance roofing versatility and durability with energy efficiency and safety. LyondellBasell’s Hostalen series offers easy to process and pressure-resistant high-performance piping systems used in items such as underfloor heating and pressure piping systems for hot and cold water to underground drainage and sewage systems.

Reassuring customers with better design of healthcare and hygiene solutions

Safety, health and comfort are the constant key words of healthcare and personal hygiene applications. LyondellBasell continues to provide high-quality solutions for these industries with its Polybatch Breathable film products with skin-friendly properties for use in baby diapers, sanitary napkins, and protective aprons and suits. LyondellBasell products offer excellent breathable performance and improved production efficiency.

The company’s Metocene MF650Y homopolymer resin is suitable for melt-blown fibers and compounding extrusion applications, which are key materials for masks. The extremely narrow molecular weight distribution and high degree of resin consistency promote finer fibers, enhance fiber filament thread line continuity, and reduce fuzz and lint in melt blown spinning processes.

Finally, LyondellBasell’s Purell series offers an established product range of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) resins for the healthcare industry. Purell resins offer excellent aesthetic characteristics and outstanding organoleptic properties, inertia to most chemicals and a full range of stiffness and mechanical resistance. All products within the Purell range are compliant with European and/or United States pharmacopoeia regulations.
