China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) issued a notice on the release of the list of the ninth batch national new-type industrial demonstration bases and agreed to add 39 industry clusters, including Shijiazhuang economic and technological development zone, Heilongjiang Daqing high-tech industrial development zone into the national new-type industrial demonstration bases.
The list includes demonstration bases related to chemical, equipment manufacturing and new materials, such as Heilongjiang Daqing high-tech industrial development zone, Dalian Changxing Island petrochemical base and Ningbo Daxie development zone, which focus on petrochemical industry, Ningxia Ningdong energy chemical base, with modern coal chemical as its mainstay, Hebei Qinhuangdao economic development zone and Jiangsu Hai’an economic development zone, with equipment manufacturing as their pillar industry, Jilin economic development zone, focusing on new materials (carbon fiber and differentiated fiber), as well as Heilongjiang Jixi economic development zone, specialised in new materials (graphite).
According to the notice, the construction of the national new-type industrialization demonstration bases shall follow the overall work plan, focusing on leading industries, optimising industrial ecology, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of industrial agglomeration to industrial clusters, and continuously improving their influence and competitiveness. The MIIT will further improve the management of the national new-type industrial demonstration bases, strengthen guidance on classification, summarise and publicise typical experience, and carry out development quality evaluation and dynamic adjustment on a regular basis.
