The Work Safety Committee of the State Council is to carry out three-month centralized elimination of potential risks regarding work safety in key industries like hazardous chemicals, as detailed in a related plan the committee issued on November 23.

   The plan calls for learning lessons from a deadly explosion on March 21 in Xiangshui, Jiangsu. Potential risks are to be found and eliminated. Related departments are to punish enterprises, violating laws, breaking promises, not clarifying responsibilities or failing to take effective measures. In addition, a self-inspection and self-correction mechanism is to be established to eliminate potential risks and avoid accidents during production.
