Evonik announces that Mr. Fuliang Xia, currently head of North Asia for the Resource Efficiency segment, will assume new responsibilities as president of Evonik in China, effective January 1, 2020 in addition to his current role. 

   Xia will succeed Dr. Claas Klasen, who is going to retire from Evonik by the year-end after over 30 years of dedicated service.

   Fuliang Xia studied economics at University of Heidelberg, Germany after he obtained a bachelor's degree in law at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. In 2002, Xia joined the former Degussa AG (predecessor of Evonik) as Business Analyst in the fine chemicals unit. In 2005, he moved to China and has since held various management positions including General Managers for two Evonik local branches and Asia head of business line Active Oxygens. Since 2016, he has been head of North Asia for the Resource Efficiency segment.
