The world’s renewable power capacity is to grow 50% within five years, stimulated by solar PV, forecast by Renewables 2019 IEA (International Energy Agency) released recently.
The world’s renewable power capacity was 2 500 GW in 2018, which is predicted to increase 1 200 GW by 2024 (equivalent to the current total installed power capacity of the US), with solar PV accounting for around 60% of the increments. Renewables take up 26% of the world’s total installed power capacity, and the proportion is expected to increase to 30% by 2024, when costs of solar power generation are to be down by 15% to 35%.
