Baowu Group Invests RMB 3 bn to Construct Carbon Materials Industrial Park in Wuhai

With a total investment of RMB3 billion, construction of China Baowu Group Carbon Materials Industrial Park’s carbon fiber project and needle coke project started in Haibowan Industrial Park of Wuhai City on December 15, 2017.
The project will be executed in phases. The first phase, which requires an investment of RMB700 million, is to create 500 t/a carbon fiber and 50 000 t/a needle coke capacities with annual sales revenue of RMB1 billion after its completion in 2020.
Construction of an integrated facility including needle coke, lithium battery anode materials, graphite electrode as well as carbon fiber and its products is scheduled by 2025. Three major industrial chains will be formed from coal tar to lithium battery negative electrode materials, electric furnace steelmaking and carbon fiber products.
