Shanxi to Construct 12 Major Coking Parks

To become a competitive coking industrial base in China and the world, Shanxi issued Opinions on Layout of Coking Industry on November 22, calling for establishing six 5 million ton-grade and six 10 million ton-grade coking industrial parks in the next five to 10 years, with three of them located in Lüliang city, three in Changzhi city, three in Linfen city, two in Jinzhong city and one in Yuncheng city.
New coke oven carbonization chambers are required to reach or exceed six meters in height, while the production scale of coke ovens will be no less than 1 million t/a, in accordance with the new document. Shanxi is to retain 12 coking enterprises serving the steel industry. They must innovate and upgrade continually to reach domestic advanced levels in technology, environmental protection and management.
Detailed plans for park construction are to be made by Shanxi Provincial Commission of Economy and Information Technology. The Department of Commerce of Shanxi Province shoulders the responsibility to establish economic development zones, mainly composed of key coking parks. Related departments will make supporting policies.
