State Council to Guide Development of Industrial Internet

The State Council of China recently issued Guiding Opinions on Developing Industrial Internet via Deepening Implementation of “Internet plus Advanced Manufacturing Industry” Strategy. The document calls for raising the capacity of the Industrial Internet, and propelling integration between the real economy and the Internet for a win-win result. Targets are to be realized in three stages, with 2025, 2035 and the middle of the 21st century being three turning points.
China’s Industrial Internet has four models – intelligent production, intelligent products, networked collaborative manufacturing and personalized customization. Efficiency and product quality can both be improved by means of bringing more data to bear and enabling intelligent connections. In fields like clothing and home appliances, while meeting customers’ demand for intelligent products, the Industrial Internet would provide clients with personalized experiences and services, like enabling them to understand the whole flow of production. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China (MIIT) will strengthen the safety monitoring capability of the Industrial Internet, helping it both to find potential danger and to deal with emergencies more effectively.
The document sets forth major tasks, with key generic technology as a highlight. Integration is a key, as manufacturing has to integrate with intelligent techniques to become more intelligent, said Xie Shaofeng, director of Informatization and Software Service Department MIIT. MIIT has selected 206 intelligent manufacturing demonstration projects, including 28 innovative application projects for the Industrial Internet.
