China Issues New Plan to Protect Water Resources

The Ministry of Environmental Protection, the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Water Resources of China recently issued Control Plan for Water Pollution in Key River Basins (2016-2020).
While controlling water pollution in seven key river basins as required by China’s Water Pollution Control Action Plan, the document expands the scope to Zhejiang, Fujian, southwest and northwest China, covering key rivers across the country for the first time.
It puts forward the tasks of controlling industrial pollution, urban pollution, agricultural and rural pollution. Further, the document calls for protecting water ecological environment and drinking water sources. Related projects will be kicked off to help industry players achieve these targets.
