Sinopec Starts up First SEPS Plant

China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) announced on August 31 that the 20 000 t/a SEPS (hydrogenated styrene/isoprene copolymer) production plant, the first of its kind in China, was put into operation at Baling Petrochemical. This makes Baling Petrochemical the world's third enterprise, with independent intellectual property rights of the core technology of SEPS industrial production and fills a gap in SEPS R&D in China.
In the past two years, Baling Petrochemical has made breakthroughs in industrial production of SEPS and has met the requirements of control indices of SEPS hydrogenation and metal ion content in finished products.
