Criterion Catalyst and Technologies, Inc. Launches Collaboration with Qingdao Hero Taifeng

On August 21, the groundbreaking ceremony of a hydroprocessing catalysts manufacturing plant collaborated by Qingdao Hero Taifeng New Materials Co, Ltd. and Criterion Catalysts & Technologies L.P. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell) took place in Qingdao West Coast Export Processing Zone.
A plant with an annual production capacity of 10 000 tons will be built, aiming to meet strong need for refining catalysts from China and other APAC regions. Criterion’s global catalyst manufacturing capacity will be further enhanced in China as Qingdao Hero Taifeng’s world-class catalyst production facility becomes a key component of Criterion’s supply chain.
One of the key challenges confronting a refinery is how to cope with changing crudes and provide transportation fuels in a more efficient and cleaner manner. The technology will be meaningful to environment as the petrol or diesel refined will contain less sulfur. The fuels will meet China’s more stringent emission standards, contributing to China’s environmental protection.
Criterion President Andy Gosse says: “As one of the leading catalyst technology and product providers, Criterion is committed to supplying highly active and stable catalysts that function reliably to our customers. We are proud to bring our technologies and products to China. The collaboration with Hero Taifeng is an exciting milestone for us.”
Hero’s parent company Qingdao HengruiFuzhan Vice Chairman Sun Haiyan says:” We are privileged to collaborate with a top 10 company in the Fortune 500. It is significant for us to further build our company’s brand and reputation by working with Criterion. We value this partnership a lot. We commit to providing high-quality products to our customers. We will ensure the supply capacity of Criterion’s catalysts.”
Criterion will provide its proprietary technologies and feedstock to Hero Taifeng, which will manufacture the required catalysts. Criterion will be responsible for the product marketing. The plant is expected to be functional in March 2019.
