SPECSL Wins Thailand’s No 5 Long-distance Natural Gas Pipeline Project

Sinopec Petroleum Engineering & Construction Shengli Corporation (SPECSL) won the US$196 million (or RMB1.33 billion) phase I EPC contract of Thailand’s No 5 long-distance natural gas pipeline on August 14. The first phase includes the construction of main pipelines, valve stations, gas mixing stations and pig launchers.
Thailand’s No 5 gas pipeline is a major project of PTT. It is a main gas artery from Rayong, an industrial powerhouse in the southern part of Thailand, to Nonthaburi, northwest of Bangkok to ensure natural gas supply for power stations and natural gas users.
The phase I project includes 152-kilometre long, 42-inch major gas pipelines, eight valve stations and 57-kilometre long, 36-inch branch pipelines, six valve stations, a new gas mixing stations and reconstruction of a pig launcher.
