Shenhua Baotou CTO Upgrade Project Gains Approval

China Shenhua Energy Company Limited, a listed arm of Shenhua Group recently announced that Shenhua Baotou’s coal-to-olefin (CTO) upgrade and demonstration project has been approved by Inner Mongolia Development and Reform Commission. The 750 000 t/a plant is designed to produce 350 000 t/a of polyethylene (PE) and 400 000 t/a of polypropylene (PP). Total investment will reach around RMB17.15 billion, including 30% of capital in cash.
Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical is currently operating a 600 000 t/a CTO plant with 300 000 t/a PE capacity and 300 000 t/a PP capacity.
