Fujian Issues New Plan for Graphene Industry

Fujian’s provincial government recently issued Development Plan for Graphene Industry in Fujian Province (2017-2025). The plan provides for the output value of Fujian’s graphene industry and related application industries to exceed RMB10 billion by 2020 (exceeding RMB50 billion by 2025), driving the formation of an industrial chain with a combined output value of more than RMB50 billion (more than RMB100 billion by 2025).
In Fujian province, a relatively mature graphene industrial chain has already taken shape, integrating resource exploitation, material preparation, downstream applications and end products. More than 40 competitive enterprises have emerged, specializing in graphene equipment, graphene production, electrode materials of batteries, anticorrosive coatings and environmental protection materials, and located mainly in Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou and Yong’an.
According to the plan, Fujian will foster one or two domestic leading graphene firms, with annual sales of more than RMB1 billion, by 2020. Meanwhile, the number of graphene firms, boasting annual sales of RMB20 million or above, will increase by 10 to 20. Further, the local government will establish a number of small and medium-sized firms and one or two state-level graphene industrial bases. Three to five firms will be listed on stock exchanges, and 10 to 20 graphene-related projects will be initiated.
By 2025, one or two globally competitive firms will generate annual sales exceeding RMB10 billion, and several firms will generate over RMB1 billion. In addition, the plan calls for establishing a number of graphene industrial bases, each with an annual output value of RMB20 billion or above.
