China Signs Large-Volume Potash Contract with Canada

Canada-based potash sales company Canpotex has signed a new supply contract with Chinese customers, providing a gross volume of 1.4 million tons of potash by the end of 2017, the company announced on July 24. Canpotex forecasts exporting 2.1 million tons of potash in total to China this year.
A united Chinese negotiation group, consisting of Sinochem, Sinoagri and China Bluechemical, reached an agreement with Russia-based Uralkali on China’s potash import contract via marine shipment in 2017 on July 13. The contract price is US$230/ton CFR China, US$11/ton higher than last year.
“We plan to export 2.1 million tons in 2017, around 500 000 tons more than 2016,” said Ken Seitz, CEO of Canpotex.
