Construction of 1 million T/A CTL Project in Xinjiang Approved

A 1 million t/a coal-to-liquid (CTL) state demonstrative project was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Inner Mongolia Yitai Coal Co., Ltd. announced. Its subsidiary Yitai Yili Energy Co., Ltd., which is to fund and undertake the project, received approval from NDRC on July 26, 2017.
The plant, to be constructed in the Yitai Yili Industrial Park in Qapqal Xibe autonomous county, Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, has a designed capacity for 1 015 200 t/a of diesel, naphtha, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in total. It will also yield by-products such as mixed alcohol and sulfur.
Total investment in the project is RMB16.27 billion, with registered capital taking up 30% by an amount of RMB4.85 billion. Contributions from Inner Mongolia Yitai Group and its subsidiary Yitai Yili Energy account for 9.8% and 90.2%, respectively.
The project is meant to demonstrate industrialization of Opposed Multi-Burner Coal-Water Slurry Gasification technology for 3 000 t/d of coal, industrial application of improved Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reactor and a new generation of catalysts, application of mechanical evaporation plus crystallization disposal of strong brine, etc.
