Air Liquide China and Sinopec Unveils A New Joint Venture in Beijing

On July 13, Air Liquide China and Beijing Yanshan Company of Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation) unveiled a new joint venture — Air Liquide-BYPC Gases Co., Ltd. — to be based in Beijing.
The new company will be a 50-50 joint venture. It will upgrade the current ASU (air separation unit) assets to enhance the safety and reliability of the facility. A new nitrogen production unit will be designed and built by Air Liquide’s Engineering and Construction teams.
The joint venture will supply industrial gases including oxygen and nitrogen to Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Company, with a total capacity of 340 tonnes of oxygen and 1 110 tonnes of nitrogen per day.
Commenting on the new cooperation, Luo Qiang, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sinopec Beijing Yanshan Company said: “We’re pleased to announce the new joint venture with our partner Air Liquide China. By combining Air Liquide’s world-class safety practices and professional expertise with our understanding of and presence in the local market, we’re confident to further enhance our core competence and to better serve the industry.”
Marcelo Fioranelli, Vice President of Air Liquide Greater China, added: “The joint venture brings our successful collaboration to a whole new level. Air Liquide China will continue working hand-in-hand with our partner to lead the industrial transformation towards energy efficiency, and contribute to the sustainability of the local market.”
Sinopec is one of the largest integrated energy and chemical company in China. Air Liquide China and Sinopec’s co-operation dates back to 2007. This is the third joint venture that both parties have established.
