Dow Presents Award Winning Technology Breakthrough for Water Treatment at AQUATECH CHINA 2015

Dow Water Process & Solutions (DW&PS), a business unit of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: Dow), debuted the IntegraFluxTM Ultrafiltration Modules, an award-winning product featuring the technology breakthrough XP Fiber at AQUATECH CHINA 2015 in Shanghai from June 10 to June 12, 2015. The company further announced the launch of the DowWater Academy in China, the first company-initiated open educational platform dedicated to water industry professionals.
With 35% higher permeability than previous-generation Dow ultrafiltration modules, XP Fiber delivers groundbreaking high-flux, low-pressure, ultra-reliable performance while requiring less frequent cleaning and reduced chemicals. It significantly increases efficiency, productivity and reliability while lowering the cost of water.
“Dow is committed to addressing the water challenges and stricter water treatment standards faced by China and other countries around the globe. We will continue to drive new technology breakthroughs with our industry leading material science capability and our world class talents,” said Larry Ryan, business president for DowEnergy and Water Solutions.
At the show Dow also provided a preview of its new antifouling reverse osmosis technology, which will come to market later in the year. By combining the company’s most advanced antifouling chemistry with innovative space technology, the much anticipated RO element can help industrial end users to sustainably lower cleaning frequency by up to 50% and to reduce energy consumption by up to 10%.
At the booth opening ceremony, Dow also announced to launch the Water Academy in China in July. The open educational platform will offer industry professionals both online and offline courses to introduce the latest trends, technologies and engineering knowledge, and to share the best practices of the industry.
“At Dow, we truly believe that a focus on the Human Element is essential if we are to make a difference in this changing world,” said Christina Fang, Greater China commercial director for Dow Water & Process Solutions. “It is our hope that through the Water Academy, we can support the development of Chinese engineers and ultimately contribute to the sustainable growth of the water industry in China.”
The Water Academy was first launched in the United States in 2014 with a series of online webinar courses. In less than 12 months it had attracted the participation of more than 4 000 professionals in courses specially designed by experts from Dow Water & Process Solutions. Dow will duplicate the model in China, keeping the original format while customizing the course content to suit local market’s needs.
For the first time, Dow Microbial Control together with its AQUCARTM, KATHONTM Antimicrobial biocides and Dow Oil, Gas & Mining with its ACUMERTM series anti-scalant also participated in the water show, demonstrating Dow’s integrated and collaborative approach to driving new technologies and solutions for water treatment.
A global leader in sustainable separation and purification technology, Dow Water & Process Solutions is making a clear impact in the world. The company is helping to make water safer and more accessible, food taste better, pharmaceuticals more effective and industries more efficient and spearheading the development of sustainable technologies that integrate water and energy requirements.
Dow Water & Process Solutions offers a broad portfolio of ion exchange resins, reverse osmosis membranes, ultrafiltration membranes, fine particle filters and electrode ionization products, with strong positions in a number of major application areas, including industrial and municipal water, industrial processes, pharmaceuticals, power, residential water and waste and water reuse.
