Beijing Focuses on Biological Medicines      

Recently the Beijing municipal government released its program for the biological medicine sector in the period of 2010-2011, aiming to build three to five super companies each with annual sales exceeding RMB10 billion and 60 to 80 large companies each with annual sales surpassing RMB100 million.
   The biological medicine industry is an emerging sector that is gaining high concerns from the Chinese government. In recent years, with the governmental supports, Beijing's biological medicine sector has remained a stable growth depended on technological innovations. Among biological medicine manufacturers, Beijing Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., Beijing Tong Ren Tang Group Co., Ltd. and China National Biotec Group held the leading positions.
   Beijing has set up three bases to home biological medicine business - Zhongguancun Life Science Park, Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area and the Daxing Bio-Medicine Industrial Base. Beijing municipality is also China's innovation base, contributing to around 40% of the country's innovation progresses in bio-medicines.
