Innovation, Sustainability and Efficiency - Drivers to Lead Silicone Industry out of Recession

Mr. Jean Marc Gilson, Executive Vice President of Dow Corning Corporation, spoke at the 3rd Global Silicone Business Outlook conference with the topic as "Innovation, Sustainability & Efficiency: Drivers to lead the Industry out of recession" in Shanghai on September 23rd, 2009.
"China has been more aggressive than most and has more opportunities to turn the tide through its stimulus programs," he emphasized.
"In order to gain a unique competitive advantage in today's challenging business environment, it's critical to address short-term consequences while securing long-term success through innovation, sustainability and efficiency".  Mr. Gilson mentioned.
Dow Corning offers advanced silicon solutions through the entire solar value chain. The goal is to help the solar industry compete with conventional energy sources and become a sustainable energy option globally. Dow Corning is the majority shareholder of Hemlock Semiconductor and has invested US$3 billion to expand polycrystalline production.
By application of silicone-based adhesives and sealants, Dow Corning enables architects to meet the growing demand for environmentally sustainable design and construction techniques. The fascinating materials can help failed weather seals and ensure durable, leak-proof structures that are UV-stable and remain virtually unaffected by extreme weather conditions.
Dow Corning's innovative drum-less operation uses piston designed tankers to deliver bulk sealants. This approach can avoid cleaning between shipments, energy expended in moving drums and also reduce handling and waste. While eliminating the drum handling, it also reduces potential for accidents. To the whole industry, it can help lower waste disposal and energy costs.
