Bayer MaterialScience Increases Aliphatic Coatings Raw Materials Capacity in China   
  
On October 19th, Bayer MaterialScience, announced a capacity expansion of Desmodur (R ) N aliphatic coatings raw materials at its plant at Caojing near Shanghai in China.
   The plant has increased the capacity of Desmodur (R ) N to 27 000 t/a to meet the growing demand in Asia, particularly China, in the automotive, general industrial and plastics market.
   The investment underlines the commitment by Bayer MaterialScience to support the fast growing market for high performance polyurethane-based coatings in Asia.
   The company has been producing Desmodur (R ) N coatings raw materials at Caojing since April 2003 at a facility which had an initial capacity of 11 500 t/a.
   Desmodur (R ) N is a solvent-free aliphatic polyisocyanate resin based on hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI).
