Sinochem Wins in 337 Investigation Case for R-134a Coolant

Sinochem Group announced on August 7th that the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) has reversed an earlier ruling by the chief administrative law judge and terminated the investigation against Sinochem in its entirety with a finding of no violation. The case involved a process for making R-134a, a coolant that replaced ozone depleting R-12.
The ITC instituted this investigation on December 31, 2007, based on a complaint filed by INEOS Fluor, which alleged violations of Section 337 by Sinochem in the importation of certain R-134a coolant into the United States.
"We are very pleased with the ITC's ruling, which is beneficial to the interest of U.S. consumers. We view the result as a demonstration of the fairness of the ITC and the U.S. justice system towards foreign respondents such as Sinochem, and we will work with our business partners, past and future, toward a fair and sustainable development in the fluorochemical industry," said Mr. Lu Fangbin, president of Sinochem (U.S.A.) Inc.
