Anqing Petrochemical Kicks off Styrene Project     

On November 28th, 2007 Sinopec Anqing Petrochemical Company Ltd. began the construction on the 100 000 t/a ethyl benzene-styrene project in Anqing, Anhui province.
   With a total investment of RMB550 million, the project occupies an area of around 1.9 hectares, and is expected to go on stream in April 2009.
    As one of the important raw materials in synthetic rubbers and plastics industries, styrene can be used to manufacture polystyrene and SBS (styrene-butadiene-styrene) resin, etc.
   Anqing Petrochemical is a subsidiary of Sinopec, and major products in the company include fertilizers, oil products and acrylic fibers.
