On October 9th, 2007 the bio-diesel production base was completed and went on stream in Tongchuan, Shaanxi province. It will supply 100 000 tons of bio-diesel a year to the market of southwestern China.
The bio-diesel production base is funded by Xi'an Baorun Industrial Development Co., Ltd. and uses technology of using prickly ash seed as main raw material from Northwest A & F University.
Liquid fuel produced with oil crop seeds such as prickly ash seed as raw materials is clean and renewable energy. The area where the project is located has already planted 187 000 hectares of prickly ash trees. According to the development program made by Shaanxi Province, 467 000 hectares of more prickly ash trees will be planted to provide sufficient raw material to the bio-diesel production base.
