Bright Development Prospect for Plastic Film

With the rapid development of petrochemical and plastic preparations sectors after the 1990s, the output of plastic film in China surged rapidly. The output of plastic film in China reached 5.2867 million tons in 2006, an increase of 19.6% over the previous year.
   The plastic film production in China is mainly distributed in eastern and central regions. Zhejiang province is the biggest plastic film production region in China and the output of plastic film in the province reached 1.3162 million tons in 2006, an increase of 18.1% over the previous year and accounting for around 24.9% of the national total.
   China has around 1 300 plastic film producers today. Most producers have relatively small scale. There were 14 producers with an output of over 50 000 tons in 2006, of which seven producers with an output of over 100 000 tons. Zhejiang Great Southeast Group Corp. is the biggest plastic film producer in China and the output of plastic film in the company was 331 600 tons in 2006, an increase of 8.2% over the previous year.
   During the Eleventh Five-year Program period (2006-2010) the plastic preparations sector in China will mainly develop agricultural plastic products, packaging plastic products, construction plastic products and industrial and engineering plastic products. In these four categories plastic film products will hold a considerable proportion.
   According to projection, the demand for plastic film in the domestic market will still increase at an annual rate of around 9% in the next few years and the demand in 2007 will be more than 6.0 million tons. With the emergence of various new materials, new equipment and new processes, the market prospect of plastic film will be very bright in China.
