Projects in Brief          

The new 30 000 t/a high-pressure process melamine unit in Urumqi Petrochemical Company Ltd. was conducted wet commissioning and produced qualified product on August 11th. It is the first melamine unit using the high-pressure process in Xinjiang. The project started construction in 2005.

Haohua Southwest Chemical Co., Ltd. has recently shifted the carbon tetrachloride unit to produce perchloroethylene and achieved the commercial production. After the project reaches the design capacity, it can process 10 000 tons of carbon tetrachloride and produce 12 000 tons of perchloroethylene a year and the sales revenue can reach nearly RMB100 million. The project started construction in August 2006.

Daqing Petrochemical Company Ltd. is active preparing for the ethylene expansion project. The capacity of ethylene will be expanded from 600 000 t/a to 1.2 million t/a. The National Development and Reform Commission approved this project in June 2007. The construction of the project will be launched soon.
    
The expansion of the ethylene unit from 120 000 t/a to 200 000 t/a in Liaoyang Petrochemical Company Ltd. is making smooth progress. The 200 000 t/a mono ethylene glycol renovation project in the company will also hopefully start production on schedule.

The first-phase 300 000 t/a calcium carbide unit of the 750 000 t/a calcium carbide project in Wusu Xinhong Chemical Co., Ltd. jointly established by Sinochem Xinjiang Chemical Group Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Yibin Changhong Chemical Group was started on September 15th. The project has a total investment of RMB350 million (source from www.chemp.net).
   
Construction on the first-phase 100 000 t/a viscose fiber project of the 200 000 t/a differential viscose fiber project in Xinjiang Fulida Fiber Co., Ltd. will be started in Kerle Development Zone. The project has a total investment of RMB1.5 billion and a planned area of over 286 ha. It will be executed in two phases and fully completed and put on stream in 2010. After the project reaches the design capacity, the output value is expected to reach RMB5.0 billion a year (source from www.puworld.com).
    
Construction on the 250 000 t/a ion-membrane caustic soda project and the 200 000 t/a PVC expansion project in Henan Lianchuang Chemical Co., Ltd. was started in Jiyuan of Henan province on September 15th. The total investment of these two projects is RMB620 million and the construction period is one year. Production will start in August 2008. After the completion of these two projects, the sales revenue will be added RMB1.5 billion and the tax and profit will be increased RMB300 million a year (source from www.cheminfo.gov.cn).
