Sopo Launches 600 000 T/A Gas-Making Renovation Project

The construction of 600 000 t/a acetic acid gas-making
renovation project in Jiangsu Sopo Group was started in
Zhenjiang, Jiangsu province on July 1st. The project was
approved by the National Development and Reform Commission in
2006.
    The total investment is RMB2.447 billion and production is
planned to start in June 2009. The project will use the advanced
gas-making process technology to replace the existing process
of using fixed-bed coke carbon dioxide to produce carbon
monoxide. Carbon monoxide and hydrogen generated by fuel coal
can totally have upstream/downstream integrated recycle with
acetic acid without any emission.
    Jiangsu Sopo Group owns a 400 000 t/a acetic acid unit.
