Jinglong-CAS Chemical Starts up Carbon Dioxide Based Resin
Production Line

The 20 000 t/a carbon dioxide based resin continuous production
line constructed by Jiangsu Jinglong-CAS Chemical Co., Ltd.
(Jinlong-CAS) has recently started production in Taizhou,
Jiangsu province. The production line produces fully
biodegradable plastics from carbon dioxide. It can not only
solve the problem of carbon dioxide emission but also the problem
of environmental pollution.
   The raw material for the production line is carbon dioxide,
a greenhouse gas discharged by power plants, refineries, cement
works, breweries and chemical fertilizer plants in great
quantities. The product foam plastic can be decomposed or
oxidized by enzymes of microorganisms after use. It can be
degraded into water-soluble shreds and fully decomposed into
carbon dioxide and water. Small-molecule compounds and carbon
dioxide generated in degradation can be absorbed by plants as
nutrition. Tests made by the Chinese Research Academy of
Environmental Sciences prove that 33% of product scraps can be
degraded within a month, similar to natural products such as
plant fibers and rice straws and superior to all large-volume
synthetic polymer materials. The new product also has the
features of great strength, high modulus and flame resistance.
    Jinglong-CAS is jointly established by Jiangsu Yuhua
Jinglong Technology Group and Guangzhou Institute of Chemistry,
CAS.
