SPIGC Breaks Ground 600 000 t/a Methanol Project

On April 22nd, 2007 Shaanxi Provincial Investment Group Co., Ltd.
(SPIGC) started construction on the 600 000 t/a methanol project
in Weicheng District, Xianyang, Shaanxi province of
northwestern China. With a total investment of RMB2.7198 billion,
the project covers an area of 72.8 hectares. Based on the
existing Xianyang thermoelectric project, the 600 000 t/a
methanol project with advanced technologies includes following
key facilities, coal-water slurry pressurized gasifier, air
separation unit, super CLAUS sulfur recovery unit, methanol
synthesis and rectification unit and so on. There are also some
public related facilities, for example raw material coal
storage/transportation, sewage water treatment, reuse water
treatment, etc. The 600 000 t/a methanol project is scheduled
for startup in 2009. Once completion, the annual sales revenue
of the company is expected to be increased by around RMB1.2
billion.
