Jiutai Energy Kicks off DME Project in Jiangsu

On April 12th, 2007 Jiutai Energy (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd.
started construction on the 1 million t/a dimethyl ether (DME)
project in Yangzijiang International Chemical Industry Park
located in Zhangjiagang International Container Dock, Jiangsu
province.
   The project is jointly invested by Shandong Jiutai Chemical
Industry Technology Co., Ltd. and China Energy Corporation. The
first-phase project with a capacity of 300 000 t/a DME is
expected to be completed at the end of 2007. With a total
investment of US$48.72 million, the first phase covers an area
of 10 hectares. The design capacity of the second-phase DME
project is 700 000 t/a. Construction on the second phase is
planned to be started in early 2008 and completed at the end of
2008. After the completion of the whole project, the sales
revenue in the company is expected to be increased by RMB5
billion per year.
   Shandong Jiutai is currently operating China's largest 150
thousand t/a coal to DME project in Shandong province and
constructing a 1 million t/a DME in Inner Mongolia.
