Shandong Haihua Completes Soda Ash Project in Pakistan

The 50 000 t/a soda ash expansion project of Pakistan ICI Co.,
Ltd., with Shandong Haihua Co., Ltd. (Shangdong Haihua, SZ:
000822) Soda Ash Plant giving guidance on, was recently
conducted successful wet commissioning in Pakistan.
It is an important soda ash plant in Pakistan. The output of
soda ash in the plant accounts for more than 80% of the total
in Pakistan. China Tianchen Chemical Engineering Corporation
undertakes the design and Shandong Haihua Soda Ash provides the
startup service.
Through three major technical renovations in recent years,
the capacity of soda ash in Shandong Haihua Soda Ash Plant
reached 2.0 million t/a today.
Besides, the 100 000 t/a concentrated nitric acid project in
Shandong Haihua Hualong Ammonium Nitrate Co., Ltd. was recently
completed and put on stream. The double-pressure dilute nitric
acid process and the nitro-magnesium concentrated nitric acid
process used in the project are advanced, energy-saving and
environmental-friendly. The energy in the entire nitric acid
unit has a rational utilization. The cold from liquid ammonia
evaporation is used to move the heat from the absorption reaction.
In this way the absorption of nitrogen oxide can be conducted
under a high pressure and at a low temperature. The tail gas
energy is recovered at a medium temperature. The absorption
tower is modified to gain a relatively high absorption rate. The
concentration of product nitric acid can reach 58% - 62%. The
tail gas needs no treatment and the concentration of NOx is low,
being less than 200 ppm. The distributor of ammonia-air blend
in the ammonium oxidizer uses the patent technology from GP of
France. A new Pt-Rd knitted net is used to replace the platinum
net. The ammonium oxidization rate is increased, the platinum
consumption is reduced and the total ammonium consumption is
only 283 kg per ton of nitric acid.
