Dr. Albert Heuser (60), President for Greater China & Functions Asia Pacific of BASF (China) Co., Ltd. Shanghai will retire effective December 31, 2015. Dr. Stephan Kothrade (48), President of BASF-YPC and Managing Director of Nanjing Verbund Site, BASF-YPC Company Ltd., Nanjing will succeed Heuser as President effective January 1, 2016.
Dr. Stephan Kothrade has been the President of BASF-YPC Company Ltd in Nanjing, China, since 2012, and joined BASF in 1995. Before assuming his current role at BASF-YPC, he headed Plant Operations, Engineering & Infrastructure at BASF in Antwerp, Belgium. Kothrade also has held roles including Managing Director of BASF in Hungary and Southeast Europe; and global Director of Procurement Inorganic and Specialty Chemicals. He previously worked with the Strategic Planning Department, and in R&D and production.
Kothrade was born in Landshut, Germany in 1967. He studied chemistry at the University of Munich and earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1995. He is married and has two children.
